Google I / O - day 1: all for Android

The first day of the conference for developers Google I / O has been devoted in large part to Android. Google announced two versions of the mobile system, Android 3.1, and Ice Cream Sandwich. In San Francisco we also speak of the new Google Music, video rentals and home automation with the arrival of Android in our homes with Android @ Home.

Android 3.1 Improving Honeycomb shelves

The system for smartphones, tablets and mobile devices Google announced a version 3.1, improving Honeycomb. It will take place in the shelves and the Google TV, now for the tablet Motorola Xoom.

Android 3.1 has the management of USB devices, an option to rent movies directly from the Android Market and interface improvements. The browser has also been modified, plugins can now use hardware acceleration and web pages can be stored for offline viewing.

Ice Cream Sandwich

Scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2011, Android Ice Cream Sandwich tackle the difficult problem of fragmentation and to facilitate the deployment and system updates. This will also facilitate the development of applications on devices that can be designed very differently in hardware, particularly in terms of display capabilities.

Ice Cream Sandwich adapt all the new Android 3.1 and should reconcile tablets, smartphones and other devices by providing a single version for all.

Google Music

Google confirmed the arrival of Google Music as expected. The service will allow users to store their music online and access them from various devices like an Android device or system audio Stereo. The system is currently only available by invitation to the USA.

Android Home

Google wants Android to become a means to control various devices in the home and not only material related to computers. Thus, in a demonstration, we see a developer start and stop lights with a tablet.

NFC (near-field communications) is the game, in combination with the development tool Android @ home project and Tungsten. When approaching a demo cd-rom audio device with a luminous ball materialized, it is immediately detected, triggering the reading of titles.

The second and final day of Google I / O is emerging and should be more focused on Internet, online services and applications "in the clouds."
