Open data: launch of the platform data.gouv.fr

Strongly influenced by the gate open data "data.gov" opened in the United States in 2009 by the Obama administration, France has in turn opened the public data portal "data.gouv.fr." With this platform open data the state and local governments increase transparency in all their actions to citizens. The data in the Web site will also serve scholars, researchers, web developers, journalists, to give birth to new services. In short, the open data could be an economic development tool and a vehicle for innovation.

Multiple uses for the data
Public data put online can be exploited and processed by companies, scientists, software developers and journalists. For software developers such as open data will contribute to the creation of mobile applications. The latter may facilitate and enhance exchanges between citizens and their representatives.
